TÜBINGEN: CITY OF PHILOSOPHERS AND POETS

The old university city of Tübingen lies on the southern boundary of the » Schönbuch « Nature Park, some 35 km to the south of Stuttgart. The picturesque Old Town, with its City Hall , narrow streets and extensive pedestrian shopping zone, attracts tourists from all over
the world.

The university was founded in 1477 by Count Eberhard im Bart of Wuerttemberg, and since
this time the name of the city has been synonymous with the fields of teaching and
research. Many famous personalities, including Hölderlin, Hegel, Uhland,
Schelling and Kepler, were born or lived in Tübingen.
