Serum-Free Media Products
In the light of the growing worldwide shortage and consequent price instability associated with foetal bovine serum, the development of effective serum-free media formulations has become essential for the future growth of the biotechnology industries. In addition, the use of foetal calf serum requires prior sampling of each lot, and leads to batch variations as well as purification difficulties in production. Serum-free formulations for all commercially significant cell culture are available.
DCCM-1, DCCM-2, LPM, BIOGRO-1 and BIOGRO-2 have been successfully used in all of the following cell culture applications:
- Culture of myeloma and hybridoma cells
- Monoclonal antibody production
- Culture of human lymphocyte cells (including stimulated or transformed cells)
- Viral production
DCCM-1 and DCCM-2 contain BSA, whereas LPMis a BSA-free variation.
BIOGRO-1 and BIOGRO-2 are serum-free medium supplements products, intended for those customers who prefer their own final medium, using a basal media of their choice. BIOGRO-1 contains albumin, whereas BIOGRO-2 is a very low protein albumin-free formulation.
- BIOMPM-1 is a multi-purpose formulation for a wide variety of anchorage-dependent cells.
- BIOCHO-1 SFM BASE when used with BIOGRO-CHO SFM SUPPLEMENT is intended for use with anchorage-dependent CHO cells.
- BIOCHO-2 SFM BASE when used with BIOGRO-CHO SFM SUPPLEMENT, is intended for use with CHO cells in suspension.
- BIO-TARGET-1 replaces human serum-supplemented medium in many adoptive immunotherapy and cellular immunology research applications.
- BIOINSECT-1 is intended for use with invertebrate cell lines, such sf9, derived from Spodoptera frugiperda.
- Fibronectin is used as an attachement factor.
- ECM (Extracellular Matrix) coated plastic ware to mimic In Vivo environment. Serum-Free Cell Freezing Medium, for the cryopreservation of mammalian cells.
